“the greater good”

Vegan powered bike has had an exciting last 2 weeks. New graphics a new work friend and even a broken part.

While I love the look of a clean bike I could not help but notice how empty the top tube looked and how it would be the perfect spot for the words “vegan powered” because, well it is! 🙂 Also what a great way to get this blog out there. People will see me, the bike and think “hey that’s neat that guy must be vegan.” So if that was you and you found my blog because of it say “hi.” There are more of us crazy vegans out there than one would think and most of us are pretty friendly. The more people see us the more they will look into what being vegan is all about. Heck, we know it is all about the Greater Good, “the greater good”

Vegan Powered Bike

As for the new work friend I am the manager of a natural pet food store called Bark! and Bark! is part of a larger umbrella referred to as The Conscious Corner.  The owners of The Conscious Corner are vegan and promote a vegan and healthy life style. So when it came to getting the word out about the Bark! stores the owners felt that a Bark! delivery bike would be fun, and it is. We use this bike for getting around to local events like the Catonsville farmers market , Family Fun Time Festival at The Hub  and Frederick Road Fridays. What a great way to get the word out about healthy natural pet food and get some great exercise while doing it.

Broken bike parts can be a pain but the part that broke was a few years old and just a fender part. The fenders I use are Planet Bike fenders and these particular fenders like I said are a few years old. The part that broke was one of the fender attachment brackets. While I was surprised that this part broke with it not being a moving part and not banging it on anything at any point that I can remember. I was happy to see that Planet Bike supplies a full line of replacement parts “To encourage you to rebuild your stuff rather than toss it in the rubbish bin”. This was just another reminder why I like this company. On top of that Planet Bike donates 25% of their  profits to bicycle advocacy groups. You can read more about that here.

Being Vegan and riding my bike is all for the greater good “the greater good.”  What I do today will be the change I see tomorrow. Whether it be promoting a healthy natural diet for ourselves and our pets, getting involved with our communities or keeping things out of our land fills I am all for it. The more we do the better we will leave this planet for future generations. We are the only ones that can make a difference. We can not rely on anyone else. Not our parents, not our neighbors  not our siblings and certainly not our government! When I change,  the world changes. When I do what is right the world does what is right. It is that simple. For the greater good “the greater good.”
